The feedback survey results on the strategic directions for 2018-2023 for the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) reveal that the top 5 areas of concern in the community are mental health, hospital care, obesity, drug and alcohol, and population growth. Comments from staff and residents indicate the highest priorities for the future are:

  • Population growth, ensuring we develop the right infrastructure and have the right staff mix for the future
  • Quality, safety and access
  • Population health, particularly high needs groups with longterm (chronic) conditions, health literacy and empowering patients
  • Keeping people out of hospital and building Primary Care and Community Health
  • Ensuring a high quality of staff who are well supported
  • Keeping up with technology
