Prevention & screening of bowel cancer information session for Chinese communities

Chinese cancer support group CanRevive has received more than $100,000 in funding for two cancer awareness projects as part of the Cancer Institute NSW Innovations in Cancer Control Grants. The Bowel Cancer Screening Awareness Project for Australian Chinese will focus on investigating the barriers of low participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) among Chinese communities.

This public information session on Prevention and Screening of Bowel Cancer will be presented by Dr. Zeigfeld Yu-Ting Yeh.

Content of the information session includes:

1. The causes of Bowel Cancer.

2. How to prevent Bowel Cancer.

3. Screening Methods of Bowel Cancer.

4. The role of GPs in Bowel Screening.

Simultaneous Cantonese/Mandarin interpretation available.

Information session participants will be invited to complete a “National Bowen Cancer Screening Program” questionnaire and will receive a free Chinese National Bowel Cancer Screening Program information pack.

This information session is organised by CanRevive Cancer Support Service, Australian Chinese Medical Association, co-organised by Australian Chinese Community Association, Western Sydney Chinese Workers Network. Funded by Cancer Institute NSW.
