Reconnect aims to make a real difference in the lives of young people who are disengaging or at risk of disengaging from the family, school and the community. Reconnect seeks to restore family relationships through flexible, individualised services including:

  • Counselling
  • Mediation
  • Information/support in areas such as:
  • Accommodation options
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Community involvement
  • Recreation

Reconnect services are available to young people who are aged between 12 and 18 years, who are experiencing difficulties within their family relationships or peer groups, experiencing difficulties at school, have recently left home or are thinking about leaving home.

Reconnect also works with newly arrived young people who are aged between 12 and 21 years and have been in Australia for less than five years. These young people may be confronted by issues such as:

  • Language difficulties
  • Adjusting to cultural differences
  • Settling into a new environment
  • Coping with limited access to telephone interpreters
